Each channel features custom-wound large-core CineMag transformers on the inputs and outputs, which takes the preamp circuitry up to 300V. WA-MPX pres are housed in a steel chassis with a brushed aluminum faceplate, vintage-style knobs and his amber meters. A Tube-Based Tone-Shaping Workstation As a premium tube mic preamp, the WA-MPX offers a wide range of analog tones. From clean volume that retains the clarity of quieter sources, to rich distortions as a result of saturating the tubes. WA-MPX features a key set of controls such as input impedance switching, +48V, polarity inversion, and input/output gain to meet the requirements of everyday pro audio use. In addition to an 80Hz highpass filter that helps suppress unwanted low frequencies, the WA-MPX also features a 2kHz lowpass filter to roll off harsh high frequencies for a more vintage sound. The classic Warm Audio's 'Tone' control changes the impedance of the input transformer for added analog tone. The 'High Gain' control kicks in an additional 20dB of tube gain, boosting the WA-MPX up to 90dB- incredibly useful for low output dynamic and ribbon mics. Finally, WA-MPX's Tape Saturation switch activates discrete circuitry in the signal path, adding natural compression, harmonic distortion and focused tone filtering to emulate the sound of a tape machine running at 15 IPS- giving a signal the perfect amount of imperfection, especially on program material when mixing and mastering.
