After using Wampler pedals for a number of years, Paisley's tech mentioned to Wampler that Brad wasn't completely satisfied with his tone, and that they were interested in collaborating to create the perfect overdrive to meet Brad's touring and recording demands. These demands were simple in concept - this pedal needed to be clean, with the ability to get crunchy with some weight and heft to it. It needed to deliver a fluid tone for solos and leads, it needed to add a slight boost to your signal, while also being able to provide all-out blistering gain without destroying the tonality.
Over a number of months, Wampler designed some circuits, and sent them to Paisley to review. After a few tweaks, the official "prototype v2.0" was unveiled, and went straight out with Paisley on his world tour.
