All Maple Shells - When it comes to superior vibration transfer between the drum head and shell, thinner is usually better - but reduced thickness often means reduced strength. Not satisfied with just making thinner shells of fewer plies, TAMA uses slimmer plies, and then cross-laminates them into a robust 6-ply, 5mm shell (8-ply, 7mm kick drum). The result is a thinner shell with superior strength compared to shells of greater thicknesses. Starclassic shells feature a Maple construction - the most popular shell material on the market thanks to it's warm, detailed sound. Starclassic - Kick Drum Spur Bracket - Thanks to a powerful hinge mechanism used on the MTB30 mounting bracket, TAMA's MSB30 die-cast bracket keeps the spur bracket securely in place. Unique memory markers located on the folding spur bracket allow for effortless setup. Claw Hooks - With rubber spacers that keep the wood hoops protected from damage, Starclassic's claw hooks work as one unit with the hoops to prevent separation and rattle, even when low tunings are used. Hold-Tight Washers - Designed to stop the tension rods from coming loose, Hold Tight washers consist of a cup-shaped stainless steel washer with a rubber ring. Striking a drum causes vibrations which creates space between the tension rods and hoops, and over time, this can cause the tension rods to gradually loosen. Thanks to the rubber rings, TAMA Hold Tight washers help absorb the impact of vibration, maintaining constant contact between the tension rods and the hoops to prevent loosening. Die-Cast Hoops - Starclassic drums feature die-cast hoops, which is more dense and consistent in shape than triple flanged hoops. The tension bolts always contact the hoop properly, which results in sharper attack, a clear and resonant tone and incredibly powerful rim shots. Bearing Edges - TAMA has worked extensively to design the most functional shape for the drum head and edge.
