Unlike standard guitar pickups that send all string signals to a combined output, the GK-5 detects each string individually and sends its signal to a separate output within the Serial GK system. This separated string information allows compatible BOSS products to perform all kinds of advanced processing functions that aren't possible with standard pickups. About the Next-Generation Serial GK System Serial GK is a new digital instrument interface designed for BOSS guitar synthesizers. It provides a secure, space-saving connection and is flatter than previous GK products. BOSS BGK Series cables are specially designed for optimal performance with the Serial GK system and are more durable and easier to use than 13-pin analog cables.
