A legend Reborn Combining ultra-low latency operation over USB or FireWire and the stability and maintenance of the legendary RME drivers. Active jitter suppression, individually switchable reference levels for all inputs and outputs, full standalone functionality, RME's own DIGICheck measurement and analysis toolbox and identical operation on Windows PC and Mac. The full feature set also includes optional Class Compliant mode and operation with TotalMix FX for iPad. This is RME's app for full control of the 802 from your iPad without a computer. The easy-to-use app includes metering for all 90 channels, effects bus, various setup screens, and full control of all features. Fireface 802 is a highly integrated pro audio solution, a full studio housed in a 19” chassis. An interface designed for users who do not want to compromise on sound, stability and ultra-low latency operation, and who crave an unmatched professional feature set. Another milestone interface for RME. Inputs and Outputs Fireface 802 offers 60 audio channels. 30 input channels and 30 output channels. All inputs and outputs can be used simultaneously. You can record up to 12 analog channels and 18 digital channels onto 30 separate tracks. ANALOG I/O - The Fireface 802 features 12 analog I/Os. 12 INPUTS - 8 balanced TRS on the rear, and 4 XLR inputs with Mic/Instrument preamps on the front panel. 12 OUTPUTS - On the rear: 8 balanced TRS. On the front: Two hi-power TRS stereo phones outputs deliver high volumes even with hi-impedance headphones (playback channels 9/10 and 11/12). Sound Quality The Fireface 802 combines excellent analog circuit design with latest digital conversion technology. All balanced TRS & XLR I/Os as well as the two phones outputs offer incredible low noise and distortion values. In true RME product philosophy, converters and preamps don’t produce “sound”, and will not degrade or colour anything from the source signal, just a faithful capture. All I/Os operate at up to 192 kHz and reach 118 dBA dynamic range on playback thanks to the latest low latency A/D and D/A converter chips- even both headphone outputs. This high power technology provides high volume no matter if high or low impedance phones are connected. SteadyClock guarantees state-of-the-art AD/DA conversion due to RME's superior efficient jitter reduction, even when clocking to an external clock source. Each input and output is individually switchable to the common professional studio levels: -10 dBV, +4 dBu, HiGain (equivalent to +2 dBV, +13 dBu and +19 dBu for digital full scale).
Professional high-transparency Preamps For microphones and instruments with low latency conversion. The 802 features four highly transparent preamps and low latency converters. The 802's microphone and instrument preamps use the classic technology of OctaMic II, a high-end preamp for the highest sonic demands and critical applications, such as the professional capture of a classical ensemble. The symmetrical preamplifier design has extremely low distortion, exceptional signal-to-noise ratio and a perfectly linear frequency response. A premium solution for transmition and amplification of any audio input with zero degradation, whether it be a high level stage or typical studio signals, low level and high impedance instruments, dynamic, condenser and ribbon mics. The pot-controlled gain of up to 60dB, adjustable over a 54dB range, are individually set for each preamp on the 802's front panel. The four front inputs use balanced XLR/TS combo jacks and can also function as Hi-Z inputs. Directly connect up to 4 guitars or other instruments. No additional hardware required. Each channel can be individually switched to 48V phantom power or instrument mode. Signal LEDs, clip, TS operation and engaged phantom power deliver an overview of the device's status. The Fireface 802 follows RME's tradition of designing flexible and expandable audio systems. Adding preamps or analog inputs is easy via the two ADAT optical I/Os on the back panel. AES/EBU - The Fireface 802 has one studio-grade AES/EBU I/O operating up to 192 kHz. ADAT - Two 8-channel ADAT I/Os allow for a connection of two additional AD/DA converters or the insert of effects devices and mixing consoles. Both I/Os support sample rates at up to 192 kHz (S/MUX4). Like AES/EBU, these 16 ADAT channels are available simultaneously with the analog channels. The 802 will provide 28 analog inputs and outputs by using two external converters like the ADI-8 QS, 20 with a sample rate of 96 kHz, and 16 at 192 kHz. SPDIF - The second ADAT I/O can be used as optical SPDIF I/O, increasing the flexibility of the Fireface 802 connections. WORD CLOCK & MIDI - A word clock input and output (BNC) with switchable termination and a MIDI I/O round out the list of connections, rendering the Fireface 802 a professional audio system with universal adaptability.
TotalMix FX - Mixing/Routing with superior features for Studio and Live Work - Since 2001 TotalMix added unlimited routing and mixing to RME‘s audio interfaces. Its unique ability to create as many independent submixes as output channels available turned it into the most dynamic and powerful mixer in it's class.
DigiCheck - The Secret Weapon of High Resolution Audio Measurements - RME Audio interfaces not only give you a professional digital audio interface, but also a free available software tool: DigiCheck, for metering, testing, measuring and analyzing digital audio.

SteadyClock

RME's proprietary jitter suppression technology guarantees consistently perfect sound quality, making the device completely independent of the quality of external clock signals. With highly efficient jitter reduction, the 802 converter always behave as if they're running off the internal clock, this ensures a pristine sound quality. SteadyClock allows the Fireface 802 to freely control the sample rate independently. The settings dialog has a direct selection of the most commonly used sample rates in the video and audio world.
ICC - Intelligent Clock Control In addition to displaying all clock status, it maintains the last valid input sample rate if the external source fails. Other well-known RME technologies such as SyncCheck detect clock problems rapidly. DIGICheck The 802 comes with RME's proprietary software toolkit for measuring, testing, metering and analyzing digital audio streams. It features a multitrack recorder, calculates peak and RMS values ​​for level meters in hardware, analyzes and displays audio in various ways: stereo, multichannel, all channels, surround, spectrum, etc. Power supply A specially developed internal high performance switch mode power supply allows the 802 to operate from 100V to 240V AC for worldwide use. It is short-circuit proof, has an integrated in-line filter, is fully regulated for voltage fluctuations and filters electrical interference. Stand Alone Operation with Setup Recall Fireface 802 can be set up and configured directly via iPad, MIDI remote and ARC. Additionally, there are six memory slots where the current configuration can be permanently saved. This way, the 802 works independently of your computer.
