The Neck The neck carve is powerful, with a two-way adjustable truss rod and two torsion bars. Both truss rod and torsion bars pass through the 14th fret body intersection, preventing any hump formation. The truss rod and bars are placed across the entire length of the neck, allowing a more even relief arc from the first fret to the last. Pratley guitars use a set neck joining method, with a full-thickness neck glued into a solid timber pocket. The natural taper of the neck creates a wedge joint similar to a horizontal dovetail when fitted into the pocket. Pratley also eliminated the OLD WORLD heel, which is derived from Spanish heel method of construction. Removing the heel reduces weight and provides better access to the fingerboard. Each neck is carefully fitted and glued into the body pocket to maximize resonant transfer. The Bracing Martin Pratley, drawing on his background in industrial design, developed the A-X top bracing pattern to prevent bridge roll (top belly-ing) while improving the clarity and sweetness of the sound. The bracing is also made from high quality quarter-sawn Bunya and is designed to improve resonance transfer between the top, sides and back. The backs also feature a 4.5 meter radius dome joined with the sides using their proprietary laser kerf linings. The Headstock Optimized scarf joint head angle ensures good string break angle and great strength.
