Forming each shell under intense heat from an alternating combination of thin paper and thermoplastic resin layers, this hermetically pressurized process allows each thermoset shell to behave like a single solid shell, rather than a layered/ply one. Pearl's original synthetic shells were said to require approximately 30% less effort from players, thanks to their incredible volume at reduced impact.
