BASS BECOMES BETTER Retaining the best parts of the original O-Bass, with its classic single-cutaway body shape and split-coil pickup positioned slightly further towards the neck than most other basses, giving it a unique character with more depth, growl. The opportunity for tonal versatility remains, however. Players with a softer attack can find themselves in Motown territory, with rich RnB harmonics, but can step into the era of infectious classic rock 'n' roll grind when digging in. Alternatively, wind down the tone control and indulge in smooth dub and relaxed reggae sounds. And then come improvements: A binding has been added all round the instrument, which gives a premium feel and an immediately eye-catching feature. The headstock boasts a sleek black finish for a classic look. But beyond the cosmetic improvements lie further improvements that make the O Bass perform greater than ever. The West African Okoumé body pairs brilliantly with the fretboard made from ultra-durable Purpleheart - results in a perfectly balanced instrument, whether you're playing standing or seated, and the fretwork and neck molding redesigned with comfortability in mind. Playing all up and down the neck with funky octave grooves has never felt more natural. Introduced with more personality, flexibility and charm than most of the competition, the refined new generation of Orange's O Basses just got even better. Designed in-house Designed by Orange technical director and lead designer Adrian Emsley in the heart of London's West End, the O Bass draws inspiration from Emsley's deep admiration and expertise in classic gear, and his time spent working with bassists in '90s LA. Looking to build something lightweight with a long scale and iconic tone, Emsley came to design his dream bass. Custom pickup positioning While living in LA during the early '90s, Emsley noticed how an unorthodox pickup position can affect the tone after watching a friend of his modify his own bass by hand. The O Bass replicates that modification, providing the bass with an aggressive snarl and thick high end.
