They felt that the 5000 Series kick drum pedal required greater gripping strength, and by developing the Tri-Pivot Toe Clamp, were able to provide a more secure connection between the drummer and the kick drum. Three dedicated 360° rotating rubber pads clamp firmly onto kick drums of almost any diameter and thickness, with no slippage, and the new textured rubber grip pad on the base plate makes for a world-class solution for fixing a pedal to a kick drum. Finally, DW wanted to improve the smoothness and performance of the 5000 Series, and added a Dual Bearing Spring Rocker to achieve this, resulting in a faster and more responsive kick pedal. With a plethora of improvements and upgrades, the iconic 5000 Series kick drum pedals still boast a choice of drive systems, aluminum hex shafts, pedal plates and linkages, 101 two-way beater, and integrated spurs, and can be customized to meet the requirements of any player. Offering an unconventional motion, the Accelerator (AD4) drive system creates an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard, and by shortening the length of the stroke, results in a faster pedal operation for moments where you need greater speed and control. The Turbo (TD4) concentric drive system maintains a linear relationship between the sprocket and footboard, delivering robust power, and a consistent feel and response.
