Yamaha's new Live Custom kits have been redesigned to deliver greater dynamic range thanks to accentuated attack and projection. Featuring a 7-ply Oak/Phenolic sheet hybrid shell construction and Bass Enhancement Weight, these drums offer outstanding power and clarity for live performance settings. With a new finishing procedure inspired by traditional Japanese "UZUKURI" process to highlight the natural beauty of the shell's Oak grain.
UZUKURI Finish - Modified for use on drum shells, in this traditional Japanese finishing procedure the soft areas of the wood grain are sanded, and then the entire shell is coated with a thin layer of black paint. Following this, the whole surface of the shell is sanded again, before a final coat application. This process highlights the stunning natural grain of the Oak plies.
Bass Enhancement Weight - With a design based around the Absolute Lug, the weights fixed inside the kick drum at the lug points keep low-mid frequencies in check for a tight, focused kick drum tone.
Dark Silver Hardware and Black Finished Shell Interiors - Dark Silver hardware offers a striking aesthetic, further enhanced by the black shell interiors.
Absolute Lugs - The sophisticated design of Yamaha's Absolute Lugs adds a flair of sophistication to the drums.
Die-Cast Kick Drum Hooks - Live Custom kick drums employ die-cast hooks, providing noise-free performance via the use of an insertion plate.
Floor Tom Bracket - Featuring wing bolts, the floor tom brackets are designed to clamp securely on the leg without causing damage - saving you time on stage, and allowing offering perfect control over decay.
YES III Mount - An evolution of Yamaha's YESS II tom mount, the YESS III offers even greater acoustic dampening - which allows the shell to resonate more freely and bringing out more of the shell's natural decay and projection.
2.3mm Dyna Hoop & Emperor Head - Thicker steel hoops provide a tighter sound, with a sharper response. Toms and floor toms feature clear Remo Emperor heads - known for their deep sound and impressive durability.
