The gain element is an all discrete design, identical to the Class A VCA chip used in the original unit, while a true RMS converter is used in the side chain. Containing additional switching options to defeat the over-easy compression curve, and to use a linear release instead of the more common logarithmic curve. As a result, the SSL E Series Dynamics Module has 3 distinct compression sounds, each with it's own character and flavour.
