For more than 30 years, the main component of Tom Morello’s fierce, unapologetic sonic footprint has been his amp setup. The MXR Power 50 Overdrive faithfully captures the sound and functionality of his rig. AUTHENTIC AMP TONES RECREATED FROM THE GROUND UP. The Power 50 Overdrive's circuitry uses MOSFET technology to emulate the preamps of Tom's amps for amp-like performance. Tom relies solely on his amp for his signature distorted sounds, and when the Power 50 Overdrive is kicked in, you'll understand why. It's ability to recreate that wall-of-sound is uncanny! A FULL RANGE OF CONTROLS TAKEN RIGHT FROM THE AMP. The Power 50 Overdrive features the same control interface as Tom's amps, with Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Volume and Presence controls so you can replicate his exact settings or tailor the tone to your personal taste. GET IN THE LOOP. Tom's gets a unique twist on the signal chain by running all his effects pedals through his amplifier's FX loop. The Power 50 Overdrive remains faithful to that feature, adding the same character to your signal chain. An integrated FX loop taps into the raw clipping point of before the Presence control and tone shaping at the output. When using the Cry Baby® Tom Morello Wah, you can replicate Tom's wah sounds. Insert into the harmonically rich loop and start hitting that rocker pedal for an aggressive, vocal, yet tonally balanced sweep. Running the Cry Baby Wah before the Power 50 overdrive produces a more subtle wah effect overall, while running after the Power 50 overdrive results in a very pronounced top-end when the toe-down position is hit. The FX loop is fantastic for live setups. Having the Power 50 Overdrive engaged as the 'always on' tone, and run your pedal chain through the loop so you don't have to fuss over tweaking pedal volumes every time you play a new venue. Simply dial the Power 50 Overdrive's interface to suit the acoustics of the venue. THE OUTSPOKEN VOICE OF A MODERN ICON. The MXR Tom Morello Power 50 Overdrive accurately replicates one of the most iconic guitar sounds in modern rock ’n’ roll. Tom used a half stack to perfect that sound, and now, it can fit right on your pedalboard. “The Power 50 Overdrive emulates the amp setup that I’ve used since 1988,” Tom says. “I’ve made 21 studio albums, and that amp, that head, and that speaker, and that tone has been on 21 of them. It’s been my signature identifiable sound since Day One of my career. If you want to have the sound that has been on those records, you don’t need to find an amp and speaker cabinet from 1988. You can get that sound with the Power 50 Overdrive, no matter what your setup is.”
