Based on the vintage Roland SDE-3000 rackmount delay unit, this powerful processor houses two fully-featured SDE-3000s in one guitar pedal, with the extensive I/O to build a wet/dry/wet rig, just as Eddie did. You get eight curated presets by EVH with the exact settings from his personal delay units, enabling players to experience the guitar hero's incredible delay tone in their own rig.

Just as legendary is his highly sought-after tone, one he continuously refined throughout his career to find the very best sound he could.
The Roland SDE-3000 was perfect for his unique wet/dry/wet live rig setup - delivering lush, studio-grade tone and unique delay parameters that enabled him to tweak his sound to suit his performances. After years of using SDE-3000s, ever-ambitious and competitive, Eddie tried rival products to see if it would improve his sound - but he never found another delay that did a better job, so his two SDE-3000s remained crucial elements of his stage sound throughout his illustrious career.
EVH and BOSS Unite to Create the SDE-3000EVH
The EVH brand continues to carry Eddie's legacy, sharing his vision for guitar equipment with musicians all over the globe. A few years ago, EVH and BOSS began to discuss the idea of giving everyone access to the legend's unique approach to the vintage SDE-3000.
The SDE-3000EVH was developed in close collaboration with EVH and BOSS to ensure it remained faithfully authentic to Eddie's personal delay sounds. Many test units were built for the EVH team, which they meticulously compared with Eddie's setting and sounds at his iconic 5150 studio. After rigorous testing and refinement, the final finished product is filled with precise sonic replicas of his presets, adorned with the signature EVH stripes.
Reproducing the Eddie Van Halen Delay Setup
As the original SDE-3000 was a mono delay unit, Eddie employed two units with unique settings on each to achieve his sound. The SDE-3000EVH puts two SDE-3000s in one pedal, as well as an EVH preset bank that enables players to recall all settings for the dual delays with a single touch.
Wet/Dry/Wet Configuration Made Easy
In the early 1990's, Eddie pioneered his three-cabinet wet/dry/wet setup by using a dry signal from a single amplifier in the middle cabinet, and left and right cabinets running completely wet effects for an incredibly wide, immersive stereo image. The multiple outputs and flexible routing modes in the SDE-3000EVH make it possible to recreate this rig with your own amplifiers.
One-Touch EVH Presets
The SDE-3000EVH includes eight EVH presets accessible via a dedicated panel switch. Designed for a wet/dry/wet setup, the first four presets represent the Eddie's actual presets used in his live setup. The next four presets provide the same sounds refined for a standard stereo amplifier setup.
Vintage Delay Reborn
In the 1980's, the SDE-3000's beautiful warm sound and inspiring musicality helped it stand apart from the pack, where other digital delays of the era were cleaner and more precise. This was because of intelligent and sophisticated internal digital processing in combination with nonlinear behaviors from the analog circuitry, such as a variable frequency response in the preamp dependent on the input gain, magnetic saturation in the anti-alias filter, and evolving modulation that was a natural consequence of the components used at the time. These factors where all thoroughly analyzed by BOSS in the creation of the SDE-3000EVH - bringing the vibe and character of a vintage classic into the modern age.
Authentic Details, Modern Enhancements
The SDE-3000EVH's retro interface was derived from the vintage hardware, and includes almost every parameter from the original SDE-3000. Two selectable delay ranges provide different frequency characteristics like the original, and the unique modulation circuit has been replicated as well. You can independently switch the phase of the initial delay and the delay feedback loop, influencing the way the modulation responds, along with depth and rate controls. Other advanced appointments include 92 user-definable presets, spillover and more.
Two SDE-3000s in One Pedal
Providing two discrete delays with individual parameters and mono or stereo modulation on each, the SDE-3000EVH allows users to run delays in parallel and pan them for ever-changing stereo textures, or chain them in series for complex rhythms and depth that boarders on reverb. As well as the EVH wet/dry/wet configuration, the expanded I/O enables a range of mono and stereo configurations. The external loop allows you to integrate external pedals, or connect with an amplifier's effects loop using the four-cable method - complete with selectable impedance to optimize each amplifier.

The SDE-3000EVH offers far greater versatility than it's vintage rackmount forefather with it's pedal based design and expanded controls. Gain instant control of the pedal memory using the three integrated footswitches, as well as tap tempo, delay hold, momentary effect engagement, and more. Connect up to four footswitches, or two expression pedals to externally operate the unit, or connect to the TRS MIDI jacks for MIDI control. A large range of assignable targets deliver an in-depth, real-time control that goes far beyond the capabilities of the original SDE-3000.
